What's New with Version 6.0
GrandPrix Race Manager™ was
originally written for use in our Awana Grand Prix races of Gateway Church
of El Cajon, CA. Then it was offered as shareware for
a couple of years before being rewritten as a commercial grade application
and launched as Version 2.0. Each year we continue to improve the software
and use it to run our own Awana and Cub Scout races each year. Countless race
coordinators have given their feedback and suggestions over the years, which
has helped make GrandPrix Race Manager into a
quality race management software package and an outstanding value for
the price.
Here is a summary of what's new with Version 6.0:
- Added a large-font roster screen for easy display of checked-in racers (or
those not checked in) to the audience. The audience can help you to verify
that you have not missed checking in someone and that they are all in the
correct race groups.
- Added the ability to break ties in the standings based on a set of tiebreaker
rules. These include Total Points (if scoring by time), Total Time (if scoring by points),
Results Against Common Opponents, and Strength of Schedule (but not necessarily
in that order).
- Added the ability to launch the RaceFX dashboard
from the racing screen, if RaceFX Version
3.0 is installed. Click Here for more
information on RaceFX.
- Added support for RaceReplay Version 1.0
to the racing screen. RaceReplay
is our new instant video replay software package. Click
Here for more information on RaceReplay.
- Use of race subgroups is now optional, if you have no need to break down
the group standings.
- Added menus to the racing, on deck, standings, and awards screens for easy
access to features and allow for customizing the screens.
- All large-font screens now support the use of PowerPoint presentation remote
controls. Your MC or race director can control the screens using one of these
types of remote control.
- The Report Viewer has been made easier to use and provides more ability
to filter the report data as desired.
- Added a Team Standings report so you can promote teamwork within your
race groups. This should improve the level of competition as knowledge
is shared and racers that need some help get it.
- Added a Check-in Inspection Sheet report to aid in checking in racers.
- Added Participation Certificates (based on those who have checked-in).
- Added a count down timer to the racing screen that can be used during
an intermission or to otherwise display when racing will start.
- Modified the auto heat advance feature to jump to the next unrun heat, instead
of going back to an earlier unrun heat.
- Added the ability to control and reset the track record from the racing
screen.
- Added an auto update feature for the track record. If selected, there
will still be an on screen notification when the record is broken,
but the screen will automatically disappear after a few seconds and
the record will get updated.
- Award names can now be up to 50 characters long, instead of 25.
- Added the ability to see scale speed when using a timer but scoring by
points.
- The "All at once" or "One at a time" setting in the
awards and standings screens are now remembered.
- For registration, the vehicle name field is now customizable so it can
store other information, if desired.
- Roster, awards and chart imports can now be TXT (tab delimited)
or CSV (comma separated) files. Chart imports can also be space delimited
TXT files.
- For registration, the automated vehicle numbering was modified so
it is easier to work in number series for different race groups.
- The Racer Name dropdown lists are now multi-column and sortable, so
you can easily select a racer by their name or vehicle number.
- When starting a Grand Finals round you can now specify if finalists are
from each race group or from the overall standings.
- When starting a Grand Finals round, added drag-and-drop support for selecting
race groups to include/exclude.
- When starting a new round or Grand Finals round, added a recommended number
of finalists.
- Added CSV (comma separated) export of data to all reports. You can use this
data to create custom reports.
- Added the ability to print out awards certificates ahead of time and then
you can later fill in the blanks with the winner's information.
- Added summary statistics to the Individual Racer Stats report.
- Awards certificates are now more configurable (font sizes, font formatting
and certificate image).
- The report image, which is displayed on all reports (except certificates),
is now configurable. You can use your own logo or other image on the reports.
- Backup data can now be saved to a specified location.
- Added a "Delete Everything" option to the main menu to wipe out
all data in a data file.
- And there's more...
